A coming of age sports story. 

 

As soon as I heard this song, I knew it was a sports music video. Adrian's music is on the ESPN rotation for college sports, and being a Texas native, I knew this film had to take place on a football field. I was never big into football, but I've always loved films about athletes; they offer tangible goals and fast pace motion that's fun to capture on camera or watch on a screen. Not everyone has a conflict on a field, but many of us have childhood experiences that shaped the insecurities and inner conflict we have today. Adrian talked to me about how he has pushed around when he was a kid for being smaller and quieter than most.  I wanted to build a story of victory, where a character grows over time to overcome the obstacle that they struggled with from a young age. I was inspired by coming of age narrative films, such as Boyhood and Moonlight, where children are tested to become a better version of themselves.
